| Do you have to be 21 years old to attend your shows? |
| No, we are not a night club. We are a conventional theatre, not a comedy club, cabaret or dinner theatre.
We do not serve alcohol. A variety of candy and soda are available for sale in our lobby for most performances.
Our Friday night shows are suitable for ALL ages. |
| What are the ratings of your shows? |
|
Although our name does include the word “Blue” our shows are not.
Our Friday night shows are improvised, which is to say made up on the spot,
using suggestions from the audience as a starting point. We focus mainly on story,
narrative, technical game-playing, and comedy. ‘Blue’ humor is easy, and we take
our improv too seriously to take the easy way out. Occasionally, audience members
will shout out off-color suggestions, and if we decide to accept them, we take it as a
challenge to use the suggestion in a creative manner. Our Friday night shows at the
Blue Door Theatre are open to people of all ages. Our Friday night shows are improvised
and the content is varied nightly depending on audience suggestions. Our Friday night shows,
in general, are between a G and PG rating.
Our Saturday SAFARI shows at 9pm may feature some material NOT suitable for all ages.
Our Saturday SAFARI shows are more or less a PG-13 rating. These Saturday shows are a fun, interactive display of short-form improv with an "anything goes" attitude. Parents can bring their kids, just remember: you have been warned. We recommend this show for ages 13 and up. |
| How long does your Friday night show last? |
| Our Friday night shows typically run anywhere from 55 minutes to an hour and a half.
They are all improvised, so the length can vary. We do not have an intermission. |
| Is the seating assigned or is it general seating? |
| Our seating is assigned. Our Box Office volunteers try to ensure you will get the best seat available.
If you make a reservation you are more likely to get a better seat then
someone who comes to the show without a reservation. The ticket you receive at the Box Office will
have your seat number # on it, and our Box Office volunteers will gladly help you find your assigned seat. |
| How many seats does the Blue Door Theatre have? |
| We have 66 comfortable theatre-style seats. Our stage is set in a thrust,
which means we have seating on 3 sides of the stage-the front, the left, and the right.
We also have 2 wheel-chair spaces located in the front row. |
